Sol y Luna XXI brings over 1,500 athletes and 6,000 visitors to Los Pozos beach

Los Pozos beach filled up again on Saturday for the 21st edition of the Sol y Luna sports mega-event, now a fixture on the island and regional calendar. The event brought together participants of all ages from across the Archipelago, with a programme blending competitions, exhibitions, cultural activities and concerts by the sea.
One of the highlights was the Sol y Luna Open-Water Swim – Alberto Juez Memorial, part of the Canary Islands Open-Water Cup and organised by Club Triatlón Calima, which reached a record 260 participants. Over the flagship 2,200-metre distance, the winner was Andreu Jaén, followed by Tomás Carrascosa Hester and Abian Reino Ascanio.
The programme included a boxing evening with more than 50 fighters, trial and motorcycling displays, the Urban Mile, the aquathlon, canoeing, rowing and Optimist sailing regattas, plus the Beach Karate Cup and archery. Traditional Canarian sports were represented by lucha canaria and juego del palo, while beach football, volleyball, handball, tennis and basketball drew more than 500 participants. Culture also took centre stage, with over 400 performers across dance, flamenco, hip-hop and martial arts, and a Violet Point ensuring a safe environment for everyone.
