2. The news in detail
Puerto del Rosario Town Hall presented its Commercial Opportunities Report on Thursday, a strategic tool designed to make it easier to launch new businesses based on a thorough analysis of the municipality's retail fabric and the population's real needs.
The project analyses more than 800 commercial premises, incorporates 221 surveys of residents and visitors and studies thirteen business sectors using heat maps, demographic data, income levels and district-by-district analysis. The outcome is ten «opportunity packs» offering business proposals tailored to the various premises available across the municipality.
As part of the initiative, the council has launched the Puerto del Rosario Premises Directory, a digital platform where available premises can be browsed alongside their opportunity packs, which include a business proposal, SWOT analysis, investment estimate, potential-customer profile and free advice. The presentation continued with the entrepreneurship TedTalk «Historias que Inspiran Puerto» at Hotel El Mirador and the #TardeoenMarcha networking event. The project is part of Canarias Destino Comercial Inteligente, funded by the Canary Islands Government with co-financing from the European Union and the Ministry.
3. Voices and statements
«We are giving anyone who wants to start a business a roadmap based on real data, knowledge of the area and the needs that residents and visitors have shared with us», said Mayor David de Vera. Trade Councillor Tacoremi Gutiérrez stressed: «We didn't want a report that ends up in a drawer, but practical resources to open businesses and fill empty premises».
4. Context and background
All the information and available premises can be consulted online in the Premises Directory: directoriolocales.puertodelrosario.org. The initiative is part of the Canarias Destino Comercial Inteligente programme.
