GMC Builder — documentation

Describe a business, publish a site, then tweak logo and colours without writing code. Layouts are portable JSON on your own server, rendered by PHP. A lapsed licence never blanks a live page.

The no-code path

1. New site with AI — describe the business in plain language. GMC Builder drafts pages, a header, a footer, a 404, a single-article wrapper, and colour tokens.
2. Publish this site — host articles (Joomla) or pages (WordPress) plus menu items are created. Each page embeds its layout.
3. Customizer — logo, colours, font, header/footer chrome. Custom CSS only if you open Expert.
4. Visual editor — open one page or part and drag blocks when you want a local change.

None of those steps require writing JSON. JSON and the remote authoring API remain available for power users and agents.

Install

Joomla 5 / 6

1. Download pkg_gmcbuilder-*.zip from your purchase email (do not unzip it).
2. System → Install → Extensions → Upload Package File.
3. Open Components → GMC Builder. Paste the Download Key in Options so updates appear under Extensions → Update.
4. Enable the system plugin when you want Theme Builder parts (header/footer/404/single) on the front end. It installs disabled on purpose.

WordPress

1. Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, upload wp-gmc-builder-*.zip, Activate.
2. Open GMC Builder in the admin menu. Paste the Download Key on the Licence & AI screen.

Requirements: Joomla 5.x/6.x or WordPress 6.0+ (tested through 7); PHP 8.1+. GrapesJS is bundled. AI is optional — bring your own provider key.

New site with AI

Joomla: Components → GMC Builder → New site with AI. WordPress: GMC Builder → New site with AI.

1. Describe the business (city, services, tone). Tick the pages you want.
2. Generate. With no AI key a local draft is built on this server. With a key, page copy is generated live (the brief only is sent to the provider).
3. Optionally type a change (“darker colours, shorter hero”) and apply it to the draft.
4. Publish this site creates the host pages, embeds, and menu items.

Every generated layout is validated against the same schema as a hand-built page before it is stored. Invalid output is repaired or rejected, never saved raw.

Customizer (no code)

After publish, open Customizer (Joomla) or Theme (WordPress):

• Logo — media picker. On WordPress this also sets the native custom logo when possible.
• Colours — design tokens compiled to CSS variables.
• Font — presets (system, humanist, serif, monospace).
• Header / footer — pick an existing layout, typically the site-header / site-footer parts the wizard created. Edit-part links open the visual editor on that part.
• Expert — optional custom CSS. Leave it closed unless you need it.

Visual editor

Open a layout → Edit visually. Drag Sections → Rows → Columns → blocks. Desktop / tablet / mobile previews map to per-device styles. Save writes the same JSON schema the renderer uses. Publish page creates or updates the host article or WordPress page and shows the embed shortcode.

A selected block can be rewritten, restyled, or given an image through AI Copilot when a provider key is set.

Theme Builder parts

A layout can be a header, footer, 404, single or archive part. Empty display conditions mean site-wide. A single or archive part only replaces <main> / #content when it contains a content-slot element — otherwise the native article/post would disappear.

The wizard creates site-single with that slot so a native Joomla article or a GMC Directory entry is wrapped by Builder chrome without a second template.

Parts render only when the system plugin (Joomla) / Theme Builder (WordPress) is enabled.

Directory / article singles

The library ships a Directory / article (single) preset with a content-slot. Use it as the Theme Builder single part so GMC Directory entries keep the same header, footer and colours as the rest of the site. Directory itself stays native articles + custom fields (Joomla) or posts + post meta (WordPress) — see the GMC Directory documentation.

Shortcodes

Use the layout slug, not a numeric id. CSS is injected automatically when a layout renders.

AI keys (optional)

Set a provider key in Options / Licence & AI (NVIDIA NIM, OpenAI-compatible, or similar). The key stays on the server, is never returned to the browser, and is redacted from errors. Without a key the wizard still produces a local draft.

MCP / CLI (separate product)

Agents (Claude, Codex, Grok) can author through the same API the visual editor uses. That remote control is sold separately as GMC Builder MCP / CLI / Skill. Builder 2.0.1+ exposes an opt-in remote authoring key; the MCP product talks to it. Layouts saved that way still pass the same schema as a hand-built page.

Migrating from YOOtheme Pro

YOOtheme → GMC conversion is a separate extension: GMC YOOtheme Import. It is not bundled inside GMC Builder. Install it if you need to convert existing YOOtheme layouts; anything it cannot map is skipped rather than dumped as raw HTML.

Licence, updates, price

• Render is GPL-safe — published pages keep rendering without a licence.
• Authoring, the visual editor and updates require a valid key from fuerteventuratv.net.
• Joomla: paste the Download Key on the Update Site, then use Extensions → Update. WordPress: the licence key on the plugin screen is what the updater sends to the gateway.
• Current storefront price: €250 / year per site (Joomla and WordPress covered by the same engine; buy the SKU for the CMS you install). Check the product card for the live figure — do not rely on older €49 materials.
