A prolific author, his books include «La Nación inventada» (2010) and «El justiciero cruel» (2012), both written with his father, Arsenio Escolar, the collection «La crisis en cien apuntes» (2012), «El Rescate» (2013) with economist Emilio Ontiveros, and «El secuestro de la justicia» (2018) with judge Joaquim Bosch. He also co-wrote the collective essays «Reacciona», «Actúa» and «Reaccionados» alongside José Luis Sampedro, Baltasar Garzón, Federico Mayor Zaragoza and Rosa María Artal, among others.
In 2015 he received Italy's Ischia prize as international journalist of the year, and in 2018 he was awarded the Gabriel García Márquez Prize for Excellence in Journalism, one of the most prestigious awards in Spanish-language journalism, presented by the Gabo Foundation created by the Colombian Nobel laureate.
